Customers generally have positive experiences with Nationwide’s customer service, praising agents for being helpful and easy to reach. However, some note that claims can take longer than expected to process, with delays in response times once a claim is filed.
Multiple requests for documentation for trip interruption when cruise line canceled departure port of Lisbon. We were forced to leave the ship on day earlier in order to make our return flight back to the US. Nationwide insists documentation is incomplete despite multiple submissions of requested invoices and payments. It has been 6 weeks of frustration …Still awaiting reimbursements.
Just purchased it for our trip. It was never needed, but at least we had the coverage had it been necessary.
Because of an illness we thought we may have to cancel our trip and file a claim. Talking to customer service to find out what might need to be done they were extremely helpful in laying the groundwork should we have had to.
We didn’t but I felt confident knowing what would need to be done.
We filed a claim 9/28 which was 10 days prior to our departure. They accepted the paperwork we sent on 10/3. The claim should be an easy accept as I was diagnosed with brain cancer and had surgery on 9/26. The doctor filled out the form while I was in the hospital. The claim is sitting there showing "in process" after a month.

Overall we were satisfied with the claims process with the exception of communication of the claim. It would have been nice if either an automated update of the status of the claim was sent or an actual person reached out. You needed to login to their system and most times it just said pending.
We would use Nationwide again.
It was okay. but should be cheaper price
Your website did not CLEARLY UPFRONT state that the policy was non-cancellable upon purchase.
I wanted to cancel a few weeks later after I bought a policy for better coverage and cheaper premium that I also found on Squaremouth. NO DEAL,per them and they said it should have been clearer on the Suaremouth website.
I was lucky the other/sceondary Insurance Company had a cancellable period and they refunded me the money.
A lot of work and worry for nothing!
Our trip went just as planned without any problems. Since we didn't have any need for a claim I can't comment on that. But I was pleased with the overall coverage for travel insurance.
Easy claim submittal process. Customer service representatives I spoke with were knowledgeable and friendly. Quick turnaround time.
Very slow to respond to claims. And unreasonable request for “evidence” of delayed bags that was difficult to get.
Filed a Claim haven't heard back. Very slow in responding.
