Customers generally have positive experiences with Nationwide’s customer service, praising agents for being helpful and easy to reach. However, some note that claims can take longer than expected to process, with delays in response times once a claim is filed.
I had to cancel my trip and I am still waiting to hear from Nationwide as they are reviewing my claim. I submitted all my information and the. They still asked for more.
My claim was processed resonably quickly in 18 days, with only one request for additional information. I was disappointed that I received $24.80 less than my expenses with no explaination for the difference. My documented expenses for luggage storage, hotel, meals, transportation, and airport parking totaled $388.46. Without any breakdown of which expenses weren't covered or why, I'm left confused about the reimbursement decision. The lack of transparency in how claims are calculated is disappointing. For future trips, I'll be looking for a travel insurance provider with clearer reimbursement procedures.
We filed a claim 9/28 which was 10 days prior to our departure. They accepted the paperwork we sent on 10/3. The claim should be an easy accept as I was diagnosed with brain cancer and had surgery on 9/26. The doctor filled out the form while I was in the hospital. The claim is sitting there showing "in process" after a month.

Overall we were satisfied with the claims process with the exception of communication of the claim. It would have been nice if either an automated update of the status of the claim was sent or an actual person reached out. You needed to login to their system and most times it just said pending.
We would use Nationwide again.
It was okay. but should be cheaper price
Your website did not CLEARLY UPFRONT state that the policy was non-cancellable upon purchase.
I wanted to cancel a few weeks later after I bought a policy for better coverage and cheaper premium that I also found on Squaremouth. NO DEAL,per them and they said it should have been clearer on the Suaremouth website.
I was lucky the other/sceondary Insurance Company had a cancellable period and they refunded me the money.
A lot of work and worry for nothing!
Very frustrated. We submitted everything we were asked to submit and we’re getting no response. I am on the verge of reporting to the insurance commissioner
This claim has been approved for payment. The benefit checks were mailed on 8/06/24.
Squaremouth provided good comparisons with a variety on companies. I chose Nationwide. I needed a date changed on the policy and called customer service. They were courteous and fixed the issue. The change was made and the corrected policy was emailed to me quickly. The policy price was reasonable for what I needed.
Filed a claim with Nationwide, answered all questions and submitted documentation, then heard nothing. Not sure if they are reviewing or at what stage my claim in procwss, What is the process?

Was accompanying fellow traveller to be her support in running the Tokyo Marathon. She had a knee fracture a week before the trip and could not run the event. After providing medical reports, she submitted her claim to her insurance company. After reviewing her claim and medical records, they reimbursed her the amount of the trip. She authorized me to send her medical records to Nationwide, after their review, they denied my claim. I should have used her insurance company in stead of Nationwide.
Too many hoops to jump through. I can’t file a claim for hotel and car costs, because my husband is still sick in Florida. This insurance is not making it easy. I have to wait until I get home. Wouldn’t recommend.
Still waiting for refund. Filed for refund around jan. 30th
