Am I covered for delayed or lost baggage?

If Southwest does not deliver your checked luggage within the delay period, a travel insurance policy may be provide protection from lost, damaged or delayed baggage.

Travel insurance policies with the Baggage Delay benefit can offer reimbursement for the purchase of clothing, toiletries, and other essential items if a traveler’s luggage is delayed for a specified period of time, usually 12-24 hours.

In addition, travel insurance policies with the Baggage & Personal Items Loss benefit can provide reimbursement for lost, stolen, or damaged luggage. This benefit extends throughout the entirety of the trip, and is not limited to loss or damage caused by the airline.

If your bags are lost, damaged or delayed by Southwest, it’s recommended to call your provider’s 24-Hour Emergency Assistance department to receive help and review your specific policy’s coverage.
