If I already have travel insurance, am I covered for a potential strike?

Last Updated:

As long as you bought your travel insurance policy before any of the potential strikes were announced, you can be covered if it causes flight cancellations or delays that impact your trip.

Most travel insurance providers include labor strikes within their list of covered events. In this case, the following benefits may apply: Trip Cancellation, Travel Delay, Missed Connection, Baggage Delay, and Baggage Loss.

However, if a strike has already been announced and you have not yet purchased a travel insurance policy, you would not have coverage for that strike. However, your policy can apply if a new, unrelated labor strike impacts your trip.

This information may vary based on the travel insurance policy. If you have questions about a specific policy, please contact us directly at 800-240-0369. Our customer service representatives are available from 8am to 10pm ET, seven days a week, and are delighted to help!
