In order for travelers to gain entry into Chile, they must meet a few requirements. First, a negative Covid-19 test must be shown within 72 hours of the visitor’s final flight into Chile. In addition to this, travelers must complete an “affidavit of travelers” form within 48 hours of boarding.
Lastly, travelers must provide proof of a health insurance policy that providers coverage for Covid-19 and related health expenses. The policy must include at least $30,000 in coverage, and is required to be applicate for the duration of the traveler’s stay in Chile.
The Emergency Medical benefit is the most important coverage to consider when buying travel insurance for Chile. Travelers need to buy a policy with at least $30,000 in Emergency Medical coverage for Covid-19. However, we recommend a policy with at least $50,000 in coverage for treating an illness or injury during a trip, such as Covid-19 related expenses.
In addition to this, Squaremouth recommends travelers visiting Chile select a policy with at least $100,000 in Medical Evacuation coverage. This benefit can cover the cost of an evacuation to the nearest hospital in the event of an emergency.
Many travelers have non-refundable trip costs, in addition to their medical concerns. For these travelers, Squaremouth recommends a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes other benefits for the most common travel insurance concerns. Primarily, this includes benefits for cancellation, delays, and luggage.
For travelers who are concerned about losing their prepaid trip expenses if they need to cancel their trip to Chile, Squaremouth recommends insuring these costs through the Trip Cancellation benefit. This benefit can reimburse 100% of a traveler’s prepaid and non-refundable trip costs if they need to cancel for a covered reason, such as not being able to travel because they are sick with Covid-19 or another illness.
Chile is home to some of the world’s largest volcanoes, and is a popular destination for its many landmarks, sights, and national parks. The country has consistently been a popular tourist attraction.
