Am I covered by travel insurance to cancel my trip if my flight was canceled due to the airline’s financial issues?

Last Updated:

Travelers with Financial Default coverage within their policy may be reimbursed for canceled flights, as long as they meet their policy’s requirements.

The Financial Default benefit is offered by some policies as part of Trip Cancellation coverage.

The Financial Default benefit is time-sensitive. In order for coverage to be available under this benefit, a traveler must have purchased their policy within 10-21 days of their initial trip deposit, depending on the policy.

This benefit also includes a 10-14 wait period. This means coverage is not available under Financial Default for the first 10-14 days after a policy is purchased.

This information is time sensitive and may vary by policy. If you have questions about a specific policy, please contact us directly at 800-240-0369. Our customer service representatives are available from 8am to 10pm ET, seven days a week, and are delighted to help!
