Can I still buy travel insurance for Hurricane Michael?

Last Updated:

As of October 7, 2018, it is too late to buy a travel insurance policy with coverage for Hurricane Michael.

Travel insurance only covers unforeseen events. In order for a policy to cover a hurricane, it must have been purchased before the storm was named. Once Hurricane Michael was named on October 7, any new travel insurance policies purchased will not provide coverage for the storm.

However, you can still buy travel insurance for an upcoming trip to the Gulf Coast and have coverage if a future hurricane impacts your trip.
