Travel insurance policies are still available for future travel to Turkey.
Any policy purchased after July 15 will not provide coverage for any losses related to the attempted coup and subsequent FAA ban.
Political unrest, such as coups, states of emergency, and flight bans are not covered reasons to cancel or interrupt your trip on most travel insurance policies. If you are concerned about future unrest in Turkey, the Cancel For Any Reason upgrade can provide the option to cancel without providing a reason. However, this upgrade can significantly increase the cost of your policy and comes with some stipulations.
Cancel For Any Reason must be purchased within 14-30 days of your initial trip deposit and can reimburse up to 75% of your total trip cost. This benefit requires that you cancel at least 2-3 days prior to your scheduled departure date and insure 100% of your total trip cost.
