What if I’m pregnant and don’t want to travel due to the Zika virus?

Last Updated:

If you are pregnant and don’t want to travel or are afraid to travel due to the Zika virus, unfortunately, there is no coverage available. Cancelling due to fear is not a covered reason to cancel your trip for reimbursement.

If you have a policy that includes the Cancel For Any Reason benefit, you can cancel your trip 2-3 days before your trip departure due to fear of the Zika virus, or for any reason at all. This is an optional, time sensitive benefit that requires you to purchase a policy 10-21 days from your initial booking date and provides up to 75% reimbursement of your total trip cost.

Some policies may provide cancellation coverage for travelers who became pregnant after their policy’s effective date, which is the day after a policy has been purchased. To see if your policy includes this coverage, we recommend looking at your policy’s certificate. If you are unsure, please contact us and we will be happy to review your policy.

This coverage is subject to change at any time as conditions related to the Zika virus change.

This information may vary based on the travel insurance policy. If you have questions about a specific policy, please contact us directly at 800-240-0369. Our customer service representatives are available from 8am to 10pm ET, seven days a week, and are delighted to help!
