If your flights are affected by the Hong Kong airport protests, you may have coverage under the Travel Delay and Trip Interruption benefits, depending on your policy.
As long as you purchased your policy before your provider considered the protests foreseen, you may be covered under these benefits:
Travel Delay: Many policies cover any delay of a common carrier, as long as the delay exceeds 3-12 hours, depending on the policy. After that point, you may be refunded the expenses incurred for meals and accommodations during the delay.
Trip Interruption: If the protests cancel your flights and cause you to miss 50% or more of your trip, some policies will reimburse you for the portions of your trip you missed.
This information may vary based on the travel insurance policy. If you have questions about a specific policy, please contact us directly at 800-240-0369. Our customer service representatives are available from 8am to 10pm ET, seven days a week, and are delighted to help!
