Will my travel insurance coverage extend if I am hospitalized due to the Zika virus?

Last Updated:

Most travel insurance policies will automatically extend if you are unable to return home on your scheduled return date due to an unexpected illness or hospitalization, including the Zika virus.

Typically, a policy can extend 5-7 days past your scheduled return date, or until you exceed your medical coverage limits, whichever comes first. Coverage will end upon return home.

This coverage is subject to change at any time as conditions related to the Zika virus change.

This information may vary based on the travel insurance policy. If you have questions about a specific policy, please contact us directly at 800-240-0369. Our customer service representatives are available 24/7 and are delighted to help!
