    Tin Leg customer service really eased our fears that we would bear the burden for our cancelled cruise up the Mississippi -- due to my sudden heart issues, 9 day hospital stay and pending heart catheterization. They worked quickly and efficiently to investigate, then reimburse us.

    I was out of country when getting sick and requiring a brief hospital stay. I was using a SIM card from a different country and contacted TinLeg via email to inform them I would be filing a claim when I returned to the U.S. TinLeg apparently tried to text me on my cell phone but as I had a non-U.S. SIM card they did not reach me. After about 30 hours they did contact me via email which does not require SIM card.

    The TinLeg representatives were all very pleasant, patient, and had good information for me. My claim was settled quickly and satisfactorily.

    The only recommendation I would make is for the TinLeg representatives to take the time to not only process the claim but to answer emailed questions as well as they did telephone questions. Some of my emailed inquiries were not directly answered but were answered by the fact that the claim continued through the process. I had to intuit that my emailed questions had been read and acted upon.

    Overall, the experience with TinLeg was a good one.

    The organization I was traveling with cancelled the trip prior to our leaving due to unrest in Haiti. Since my policy included cancellation, I filed a claim to receive my airline fee. My claim was denied because I was told my policy didn’t cover “civil unrest”. I really don’t agree with that decision since it really was the organization who cancelled, not me. So it was a total waste of money to pay the extra for cancellation.

    Tin Leg's response time and processing time on my claim was terrific. The customer service rep I spoke to was very helpful and responsive. I feared my claim might drag on for weeks or longer but the process went smoothly overall and my claim was quickly settled. Unlike other insurance companies I've dealt with, there was no dithering and back and forth delays, etc in Tin Leg's handling of my claim. I am very pleased with Tin Leg's service and price and will certainly use them on my next trip.

    We have purchased travel insurance in the past but never had to make a claim.Today we have a real-life experience to share that confirms the importance of Trip Insurance - and to highly recommend SquareMouth and Tin Leg. In Spring 2019 my husband and I purchased flights to Japan as well as an extensive travel package through a Japanese agency which included our lodging and meals for a 6 day mountain pilgrimage. This was a bucket list trip for us,. It was a significant investment we have saved up 4 years for, so we definitely wanted to have some insurance "just in case". We used SquareMouth to compare plans and we chose Tin Leg's "luxury plan" which was a little pricier than some of the other plans, but we compared the benefits and read the fine print and this plan offered full refunds and overall best coverage. It cost us $190 - a small percentage of the full cost of our trip.

    Our departure from the States was scheduled Oct 11 with arrival in Osaka October 12th. Unfortunately, TYPHOON HAGIBIS - one of the largest on record also decided to arrive October 12 right where we were headed. So, within 5 hours of our departure with our bags all packed and out the door we were notified our flight leg from LAX to KIX was cancelled. The airline offered re-booking in 5 days, or a voucher to use by end of 2019 (only a few weeks away). Neither of those were going to work for us. So, This meant our entire itinerary and our dream trip had to be cancelled. As a side note, we were actually able to negotiate between our Chase Rewards Card travel, and the airline to reroute us to Europe. Quite a wild random change of plans (but we highly recommend doing, if you ever hit this situation). So, the good news was that we did get a holiday. However, we were still left with cancellation fees, non refundable penalties, and the loss of our Japan dream. I called Tin Leg several times to get their help and advice. The customer service was always top notch - every person without exception was so patient and helpful. We were assigned a claims agent, but we waited to make the full claim until after we returned from Europe and after we were able to confirm our total loss (two Japan hotels kindly refunded us, but others could not). Our Square Mouth agent spoke to us once via phone and the remainder via email. He was always responsive within just a few hours. Our claim submission was completed online, a very simple and straight forward one page form. The only time involved was simply gathering our receipts, and attaching via PDF. I included a PDF of our hurricane's Wikipedia page, and the proof of flight cancellation (use FlightAware). Perhaps this helped speed the verification process.

    Now, because we were rerouted to Europe by the Airline I didn't claim our airfare, however our insurance agent was so honest! He let me know that yes indeed our flight fare to Japan was fully covered by our travel policy, since it was "cancelled and/or interrupted". He even verified the full amount we were entitled to claim. We were stunned it was so much more than we thought! ALL of the flight fare, plus hotel cancellation fees and travel agency penalty fees were covered. So, everything we were out of pocket for. I amended the amount on our claim. Our agent processed it in less than 24 hours, I received a tracking number via email, and the check arrived in our mailbox in just 4 business days. This experience has exceeded all of our expectations!. Truly the best investment we ever made, and we couldn't be more pleased with our service! I will be recommending Square Mouth and Tin Leg to everyone. What could have been a devastating loss to our dream is saved. Thanks to Tin Leg, we now have all the funds waiting for our dream trip again. We plan to purchase Tin Leg insurance through SquareMouth next year, when we re-book our Japan adventure!
