We purchased travel insurance before our trip with the understanding that we would be assisted should out trip be interrupted. I had a a first time grand Mal seizure while on the plane heading home. We were diverted to Hamburg, Germany with my wife also having her trip interrupted. After I was released from the hospital we were only offered compensation for my travel home. (economy not assisted). This was unacceptable. My wifes trip was also interrupted due to my medical emergency. I was in a weakened state and I had not fully recovered from the seizure or adapted to the antiseizure meds. We felt we needed to get home asap- and booked a business class ticket for which we feel we should be compensated.
I will also be submitting the medical bills incurred during this episode.

I had a lot of questions about the policy before we booked our trip, and the nice person that helped me was patient, kind, helpful, and very informative.
It was difficult to communicate from out of country and difficult to figure out how to get assistance.

We had a problem with one leg of our ticket being dropped out of our reservation due to a credit card fraud protection action. It required us to make a separate reservation for that segment, to have to leave our tour one day early and to stay overnight an additional night. We called and were told none of that could be covered by the insurance. Given that, we felt we spent a lot of money on insurance that was not helpful.

The plan is unfortunately unable to provide coverage for every event that might cause you to cancel.
I've been purchasing travel insurance through Squaremouth for several of my trips. And, some have been with Generali Global. So far so good in the services.
Hopefully, the good service continues for many years to come and for my upcoming trips next year! Only thing that I don't like is that insurance premium costs more as I age!
I cannot believe how fast and efficient this company was with accepting and completing a claim. I have never had an insurance company handle a claim as fast as Generali. I will use this company and tell everyone I know who travels to check them out.

The cost of the trip that I needed to insure was reduced due to changes by the cruise ship company. I asked for a partial refund for the amount I had paid for the insurance. There was no question, the refund was made immediately. Excellent service.
We were in Ecuador during some civil unrest and were evacuated from our hotel with police escort. Lost two prepaid nights of lodging, needed to pay for new lodging at a higher price, our flight home was cancelled by the airlines and we had to sit up all night in the airport to get a 3:35 a.m. flight out of Ecuador to Colombia, and finally got home about 36 hours late, paying more for pet care. I need to find documentation for all of this. John McDonnell
