  • Generali Global Assistance policy: Standard

    There was a medical emergency and incurred some costs. I submitted the claim after I returned to the States. Once it was submitted with all the necessary documents, the claim was proved and processed without any problems. I received the reimbursements within a few days of the filing the claim. This is the best experience I have ever had with any insurance claims. I will not hesitate to purchase travel insurance from Generali Global Assistance.

    Generali Global Assistance policy: Standard

    My flight was delayed and I had book a hotel stay. I submitted a claim to Generali for the cost of the hotel stay. They approved the claim the next day! Generali sent me an e-mail with a link to instructions and a video on how to initiate payment; which had to be completed within 3 days. The link did not work. It offered me two options; log in with my existing Generali ID/Password or start a new registration for the payment. I tried logging in with my password; the site did not recognize the ID or password. I tried changing the password; I never received the password reset e-mail from Generail.

    I tried Registering by clicking the Get Started link in the Generali e-mail. The link took me to a page where I was supposed to enter an ID and password. The link would not allow me to enter anything. I sent an e-mail to Generali explaining the problem. I received an automated e-mail and eventually a new link to the same registration page; results were the same

    I called Generali and went through their automated system. I was cut off/disconnected several times and was never able to get resolution.
    I tried another Generali number and was finally able to speak to a live person. They were unable to help me but put me on hold while they tried to find someone who could. While on hold, they suggested I try to register again; for the 5th time.

    I played with the registration page and finally found a way to initiate the payment process. Instead of entering an ID and then a password, I left the ID blank and just entered my password. It worked. No where in the instructions or video did Generali suggest that I should leave the first field (ID) blank. It made no sense but it worked. I then had to enter mountains of personal information before the payment registration process was complete.

    Once registration was complete, the process went well and I received electronic payment the same day.

    Very frustrating process to initiate payment; no way this should have taken hours and multiple phone calls/e-mails to initiate payment. But approval of the claim and timely payment was excellent

    To file a claim was a bit tedious, a lot of details. But refund was quick and deposited directly to my Zelle account.

    The pay portal through Bank of America did not work for insurance claim payment. Generali Global Assistance was not helpful and basically defaulted to a check being sent in the mail taking weeks versus seconds in the portal.

    Luckily didn’t need to file a claim so can’t comment on anything except the purchase, which I did have to have adjusted due to some of my travel dates changing.

    The policy excludes illness due to mental conditions. This is a negative feature since so many Americans have such difficulties and may be left uncovered when they do. You could increase your market share if you offered policiesthat include coverage for mental illness.

    They were very prompt in responding to my claim. The only issue that I had was in trying to speak with their customer service representative. They claimed that they called me 3 times, but my phone never rang. They left a voicemail scheduling a callback in a half an hour-3 times! But I never did speak with a representative. My claim was paid, and I would purchase their insurance again.
