Good first experience on the telephone to get claim forms.

We are happy with the service provided by Squaremouth. Sadly, the trip was cancelled April 1 prior to the April 2 departure date due to a sudden death of a brother-in-law (the husband of one of our travel companions). We are waiting for the death certificate so we can file a claim.

Slow to process claim. Tried to say injury was a "pre-condition". Finally paid claim.

Of the 10 times I purchased insurance this was first time I processed a claim. Be careful how you deal with any insurance company.

Initially I would have rated my purchase experience as 4 stars, until I actually tried to use the coverage, and realiazed I was not sufficiently informed of the claims requirement and details of coverage.
I had two issues during travel.
    (1) Lost my glasses during travel.
Although the Square Mouth description of the CSA coverage included loss of personal items, when I called CSA Customer service, I was informed that personal property was not covered only lost baggage. it was suggested to file a claim anyway although it would be denied. Got the claim form and realized that the documentation would be impossible to obtain, since I was already 2 cities away on my itinerary.
    (2) Return flight and connecting flights delayed. Additional day of travel incurred. Again the documentation, reports requested, etc. were impractical to obtain, so I didn't file a claim.
In general the CSA policy has fine print that makes filing claims difficult as well as making clear some of subtlies of the coverage.

I would not recommend this carrier or coverage to others.

Claim filed and all documentation included. Have not heard back from
CSA regarding dispensation of claim. Can answer this question more completely when claim is settled.

I understood that if the trip was cancelled by the travel company, my flight, which I included in the total trip cost, was insured. I discovered the flight was not covered, and would not be reimbursed. The response to my claim was that because the reason for my loss was not due to adverse weather, or a mechanical breakdown, but only because Earthbound could not confirm the minimum amount of participants, it would not be covered.

I would definitely NOT choose CSA again as an insurer. If this information had been made VERY CLEAR I would not have chosen the policy in the first place.

My claim was NOT settled to my satisfaction. I had a trip interruption due to a lost green card/visa. We could not fly out of St. Lucia without the proper document. Jet Blue was very helpful, calling NYC, NY, USA to talk with an immigration officer for approval. Not given. We had to fly to Barbados to the American Embassy for proper documentation. CSA gave me credit only for the hotel stay in Barbados and NOT the plane fare between islands and the increased cost back to the US (with Jet Blue) because of the cancellation and reissuance of 2 tickets. I said to the rep @ CSA, "you are recognizing the trip interruption as you are paying for the extra hotel stay in Barbados but you are not recognizing the additional airline charges for the same problem. It was illogical. The rep said we had to have a documented case of a stolen visa/and or passport. I reread the policy and it does recognize LOST. The rep did not answer my question but said for me to refer to the letter they sent me. I said, please, answer my question: is this lost visa covered in the policy? He said NO, only if it was stolen and documented. I don't see that only in my insurance policy. Very disappointed.

Have bought CSA insurance through Squaremouth before. It seemed a good deal, but then I never needed to actually use it. This time I had to make a claim and a month later I am still waiting to hear from them. I recognize that to validate a claim they need to check to be sure that the events claimed really happened, but it seems to be taking them a long time to do this.

It remains to be seen whether I am satisfied with the claim procedures and results. I tore a meniscus in my knee 2/28 and was to leave on trip 3/5. Could not walk well enough to hike in the jungle. Did Physical Therapy and was getting ready to go to the second half of the trip, but got the flu/bronchitis. Had to cancel the whole thing. Reported this to CSA and am working on gathering documentation for the claim. One dr was out of town until today 3/31.
