    In October, my husband and I were booked on a Caribbean cruise sailing from Puerto Rico. We were scheduled to fly to PR on Friday, the day before sailing. On Wednesday evening my husband experienced severe abdominal pain and was admitted into the hospital. He spent several days in the hospital and we missed the trip. While upsetting, it was fortunate that this incident did not happen on the ship where the medical staff may not have been able to handle the issue.

    I contacted Travelex to let them know hubby was in the hospital and to find out what documents I needed to get from the hospital for the claim. I got an email from Berkshire Hathaway with all the information I needed to send to file the claim. It took a while to gather all the documents. Proof of the hotel and cruise charges for a no-show along with the credit card statement for each and their written cancellation policies. I had to have a form filled out by hubby's doctor. I was able to cancel the airfare and got a credit. I was able to cancel airport parking and the last hotel night of the trip without penalty so those items were not included in the claim. It took 2 months to finally get the claim mailed because I had to wait for credit card statements but on December 9th I mailed the paperwork. The insurance company advises that it takes 15 business for claims to be reviewed. I was very impressed when I received my payment in the mail last week.

    On a cruise ship off the west coast of equatorial Africa my wife developed a bacterial lung infection. She was treated on the ship and billed a little over $10,000. The charge was billed to the room

    I filed a claim, expecting to have to deal with a
    major hassle. But, to my relief, they paid the full claim. It took 5 weeks from when I submitted the form to when the money was in my account.

    I would definitely recommend this insurance

    Good pricing, we've used you before. This was the first time we had to cancel a trip and file a claim. You required a LOT of information and details, which made sense, and the customer support person was very helpful. Then my claim was approved, and I believe you even rounded up to the nearest even amount. Great work - will definitely be using you again for all our future travel insurance needs.

    When I needed to add a last minute person to a plan it was very easy. The lady on the phone was so helpful and polite. She was very patient with me as well. A great experience.

    We had an issue with boarding at Port Canaveral and after several calls, received no assistance. Our daughter was unable to board Royal Carribean due to lost passport. We had birth certificate, social security card and Indiana Drivers license “Secured ID” and my daughter and husband had to fly home. Worse experience and the emergency hotline was not helpful at all.

    Filed a claim due to my husband experiencing a dental emergency while on our Caribbean trip. The services were paid for out of pocket and within two weeks of arriving back home, the claim was filed via email. I sent over scanned receipts along with our completed claim documents. After 1 month of filing the claim, all funds were reimbursed electronically. It’s hard to find a travel insurance that actually pays out claims but I’ve finally found one and will be using Travelex through Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance moving forward. Special thanks to the knowledgeable advisor at Squaremouth who stayed on the phone with me for about an hour and helped me identify which insurance plan would be best for my trip. Thank you!

    Had to file a canceled trip claim due to medical issue. Claim was processed after 5 weeks from first filing claim. Paperwork requirements were easy to understand. Very satisfied with the whole process and will use again!

    It took a little longer than the 15 business days to get the claim approved, but it was in the holiday season so I can understand the delay.
