Purchasing the initial policy online was simple. Had to call TinLeg as we added cost to the trip in order to increase the policy amount. Customer service was excellent and had no problems changing the policy amount. However, it would be easier if those changes could have been done online as well.

This was the first time that I had to file a trip interruption claim with Tin Leg and Squaremouth. My claim was handled in outstanding fashion. Communication was clear and quick. The phone interview was very helpful, and the interviewer was courteous and provided a great deal of useful information and advice. I used the online method to file my claim and provide my supporting documentation, and it was simple and flawless. My claim was approved within 24 hours and was to my complete satisfaction. The checks for the claim arrived promptly.
In this day and age when customer service is generally lacking, it is so refreshing to deal with companies who take customer service seriously and take pride in providing outstanding service. We had a claim of around $550 for a party of 5 for delayed luggage and one stolen item from the luggage. The airline reimbursed us, and Tin Leg said they would pay nothing as a result.
I accept blame for the failure for this policy to be of assistance. In the fine print, it says that if there is coverage under any other plan, or reimbursement by any airline etc, you get ZERO payment under the Tin Leg policy if the loss is fully paid for by others. It may say under the delayed baggage coverage that you get $200 per person, but that is only to the extent of your expenses, and only if the airline doesn't reimburse you anything-- which is unusual.
I wasn't thinking when I purchased the policy that it was not additional stand-alone coverage really, but rather covered what was not covered elsewhere-- nothing is additive. For example, most good credit cards, especially the higher end ones, like Visa Signature, give you almost all the benefits of the Tin Leg policy, for free, if you pay for the trip using your credit card. The Tin Mouth policy is only helpful for higher end evacuation coverage costs and higher levels of required medical care. Don't buy it for all the other things (lost baggage, stolen items, etc) that you can get for free. At least that's my advice.
