What if the Northeast Blizzard delays my return home?

Last Updated:

Travelers who purchase their policy before January 26, 2015, may be eligible for travel insurance benefits if their trip is affected by the storm. For travelers who are unable to return home due to closed airports and cancelled flights, policy coverage may automatically extend.

In order for your policy to extend, the event that causes the delay (inclement weather) must meet the policy’s requirements within either the Trip Interruption or Travel Delay benefit. Policies that extended can offer their same benefits while the traveler is away, as well as additional transportation costs to get home.

Typically a policy can extend 5-7 days, or until you exceed 150% of your Trip Interruption limits, whichever comes first.
