They referred me to Tripmate, the co that handles their claims. I sent in a detailed, fully documented and organized claim for less than a third of the insured amount. Tripmate took a month to pay most of the claim and continues to investigate a small portion that I had already provided documentation for. The person who called me about it didn't know whom she was calling, seemed confused about her task, and couldn't understand my explanation. I don't expect that amount to be paid but haven't the time to pursue it. There were a few other unpaid items but I decided to let it go since dealing with the company is so difficult.
Fell and shattered wrist and left forearm 1/2 way through the trip. I had to be medevac out to Nairobi. Then on-call international arrange flights for me and my brother to go home. I had to have surgery last week on July 24. My claim is currently in process for reimbursement on trip interruption.
I did not receive any communication or documentation from the company. The only communication I got regarding my purchase was from squaremouth.com
I did not need to use the service.
I had two interactions with Squaremouth prior to our trip and neither went well. 1) When I asked for Beneficiary designation forms, the person wasn't sure what it was and wondered why I would need one. C'mon! Does it get any more basic!? And you don't know what it is!? Scary. (Eventually, I did get to Aidan there and he was quite helpful.) 2) I asked about which medical shots were necessary. The person there simply read from a script. They had no idea what it really meant and couldn't offer any interpretive value to me. I was thankful I didn't have to call Squaremouth about anything else.
Good value for coverage obtained, easy to understand and compare coverage, Yes, I would recommend.
I think I was wisely guided to Global Alert by a very capable rep from Squaremouth at the beginning. When I couldn't print my policy I asked it to be sent. It arrived when I got home, which didn't impress me. I still believe Global Alert is a fine policy. The person online who works for them is lax in his job representation.
Very easy to compare insurance options and purchase.
Good coverage with a good price. I usually buy this insurance during hurricane season. I would recommend Squaremouth for travel insurance.
Submitting our claim was straightforward, and we received our reimbursement without hassle. When we talked to customer service about it, they were very helpful: they got back to us in the time frame promised and explained everything clearly. It was a very positive experience.
Still processing. I am having trouble accessing forms online
