Be advised to read every word of your contract AND THE CLAIM FORM BEFORE YOU BUY and think about what it means. Having travel insurance DOES NOT mean they are going to pay you for something that seems fully justified to you. For example, after we paid for our trip and for our insurance but before leaving on our trip,, the in-country train portion of our trip was cancelled so we had to pay a lot more to fly instead....yet it wasn't covered because the trip hadn't officially started. Also, know in advance all the different kinds paperwork they demand to process a claim...like e-ticket receipts and detailed individualized cost breakouts of your tickets that aren't typically printed on your tickets. Some of this information can be very involved and may not be available without you asking your tour company or airlines for it.. You also need to get all these things from your tour group BEFORE you return home, not afterward when the tour company or airline can choose to ignore you. I'm not faulting the insurance company - I'm just warning you to do you homework in detail BEFORE you buy and reminding you that if you want to process a claim, there's a LOT of information, receipts etc etc etc to gather. Do it DURING your trip as it happens, don't wait to get back to do it or you may never collect on a valid claim simply because there's a small piece of information you don't have. You've been warned.

Everything went well Reimbursed promptly for $32 claim when clothing and beach towel were charred and burned by someone's cigarette while we were swimming. Advice: remember to document ( photos).
The assistance was outstanding, by the two ladies I talked to during my two phone calls. The first call (two weeks before the trip) was to get info, as I had never used VacationGuard before, and the second (the day of the trip) was to pick a policy. I only bought the Medical portion of the policy for my wife and I. That is why I waited until the last minute. I rolled the dice on the trip cancelation part. VacationGuard has access to many policies to fit your needs. Since I did not make a claim, purchasing the policy was my only experience with VacationGuard and that was a pleasant experience.
